OneGreen

OneGreen – secure GHG premiums without any red tape.

OneGreen.de is the address for the fast and secure sale of GHG quotas to which every owner of an electric vehicle is entitled. We developed the entire platform for Leasingmarkt.de and Autoscout24, including the website, content management system, back-end system and back-office processes.

The assignment

Since 2022, owners of electric vehicles have been able to market their traction current as sustainable drive energy and receive financial compensation for this. The basis for this are greenhouse gas reduction quotas - GHG quotas for short. They oblige mineral oil companies to reduce their CO₂ emissions caused by fuels every year. However, there is no provision for direct contact between fuel producers and consumers. Instead, owners of electric vehicles can turn to special companies that handle the offsetting of their GHG quotas. Our customer commissioned us to develop and operate the OneGreen platform, which enables private users and dealers to sell their GHG quotas easily.

Important requirements were a fast market launch, an excellent user experience for website visitors and reliable and structured handling of the necessary back-office processes.

Our solution

The main components of the website were the creation of the landing page, the checkout funnel and the backend system.

The checkout funnel is designed to be simple and data protection-compliant and guarantees risk-free processing. Here, we focused on making it as easy and practical as possible for users to enter their personal and vehicle data and upload documents, for example through functions such as the multi-upload of files. Customers can apply for their THG premium in just three minutes and receive their payment after just five days, depending on the tariff selected.

The applications are pre-qualified by employees in the backend system. The Federal Environment Agency (UBA), as the responsible authority, checks the applications and certifies them. OneGreen then sells the certificates collected by the UBA to the fuel companies. The proceeds - minus a commission for the service - flow back to the consumers.

The website was created using nextJS, a React framework for server-side rendering of web applications. NextJS offers many advantages, such as a faster loading time and better search engine optimization. The Directus data platform is used as a backend in the background. Directus enables the creation of data interfaces (APIs) and the provision of an appealing user interface for administrators, allowing them to process the submitted applications and move them through the process.
